Language: English, German
Aims and Scope
In the Online Reference Work Constitutions of the World from the late 18th Century to the Middle of the 19th Century one can carry out full text searches of about 1,600 constitutional documents, constitutional amendments, human rights declarations, and draughts of constitutions from about 50 countries in Europe, and North and South America. Using the original documents, experts from American and European universities reconstructed the authentic constitutional texts for each country, editing, annotating and indexing them in their respective original languages. Each volume contains a short introduction, a main section covering the country's edited constitutional documents, comments and an index. In addition, digital facsimiles of all documents are provided. The constitutions can be searched in full text or using the subject index, from which terms lead straight to the relevant constitution paragraph or article.
This Online Reference is of particular value, being the first publication to provide easy access to all the previously scattered and in many cases unknown constitutions from the early phases of modern constitutionalism, as edited and annotated constitutional texts. This edition offers uniquely rich and valuable source material, supplying comparative constitutional history of the early period of modern constitutionalism with new perspectives.
